Overview
The Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior programme prepares teacher candidates to teach Grades K-3 (Primary) and Grades 4-6 (Junior) in Ontario schools. The consecutive, 60-credit-hour programme runs full-time over 12 months, combining foundational education theory with subject-specific content courses across areas such as language and literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and health and physical education. Candidates complete 82 practicum days in school placements as part of the programme. Students also complete an elective Additional Qualification (AQ) in an area such as literacy, environmental education, special education, equity and diversity, or early years education; the AQ begins online in June and concludes with an in-person two-week intensive. The programme runs full-time, beginning in August, and admission is competitive. Graduates are prepared to apply for an Ontario teaching certificate through the Ontario College of Teachers.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold an officially recognized 3-year (90 credit hour) baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution and present a GPA in the "B" range (minimum 70% or 2.7 on a 4.0 scale) or better, calculated on their best 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework. Admission requires official transcripts, written statements, a resume, and an in-person admissions interview on campus. Junior/Intermediate applicants need a minimum of 12 university credit hours in a teachable discipline; French as a Second Language applicants must also pass the French Language Proficiency Assessment.
