Overview
The Professional Master's in Social Work (M.P.T.S.) is a 36-credit graduate degree offered by Universite de Moncton at its Moncton campus, completed over three full-time sessions. The program develops critical reflection on the axiological, theoretical and methodological foundations of social-work intervention, preparing students to work creatively with individuals, families, groups and communities, or to support organizations facing practice challenges, from a perspective centred on empowerment and social justice. Thirty mandatory credits include courses in the epistemology and critical analysis of intervention, social policy analysis, an advanced integration seminar, a 12-credit intervention practicum and a six-credit intervention project, complemented by six elective credits chosen from topics such as individual, family, collective or structural intervention, feminism and social work, or aging and social work. Graduates are prepared for advanced social-work practice grounded in current intervention theory and methods.
