The Baccalauréat en études allemandes is a three-year, 90-credit undergraduate program in German studies at Université de Montréal. Students begin with intensive German-language instruction before specializing in one of three streams: literature and cinema, civilization and history, or translation and writing. Coursework extends beyond Germany to German-speaking Switzerland and Austria, and can be combined with electives in art history, film studies, political science, and philosophy. A 6-credit internship option is available, and roughly 80% of students complete part of their studies abroad through exchange partnerships. By the second and third years, most courses are taught in German. The program is delivered on-campus in Montreal, with full-time and part-time study options and two start terms per year.
