The Maitrise en psychoeducation (Campus Laval) is a 45-credit graduate program in the Ecole de psychoeducation at Universite de Montreal, offered at the Laval campus as a mirror of the Montreal program. It prepares students for professional recognition with Quebec's Ordre des psychoeducateurs et psychoeducatrices (OPPQ) through a competency-based approach that builds directly on the undergraduate psychoeducation program. Three pathways are available: professional practice with internship, research combined with an internship, or a research-only track leading to a thesis. Full-time students complete a minimum of three terms on the thesis pathway or four terms on the other two pathways; part-time study is also offered. Mandatory internships place students in health and social service settings, requiring a background check and, in some cases, specified vaccinations before placement. Admission requires a bachelor's degree from a recognized psychoeducation program or a related field.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized program in psychoeducation or a related field. The application must include a completed departmental form, a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae, and two letters of recommendation. Because the program includes mandatory internships in health and social service settings, admitted students must complete a background check, and specified vaccinations may be required before beginning their placement.
