Overview

This Diplôme d'études supérieures spécialisées (DESS) in game design is a 30-credit graduate program for holders of a bachelor's degree, combining professional training with game design practice. The curriculum covers gameplay systems, prototyping, player experience, and production practices used across the video game industry, preparing graduates for design and production roles within game studios. Full-time study is completed in person over approximately eight months, corresponding to a minimum of two trimesters, with daytime courses at the Montreal campus; part-time completion is also possible. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification. The application requires a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae, a portfolio following the program's required guide, and two letters of recommendation. Depending on prior education, applicants may also need to demonstrate French-language proficiency through an approved test.
