The DESS en design d'evenements at UQAM is a 30-credit postgraduate diploma that trains designers to plan and design events, drawing on the history of ephemeral architecture, exhibition design, theatrical scenography, and urban and sporting events. The curriculum integrates critical perspectives from semiotics, philosophy, sociology, and anthropology alongside practical skills in materials and representation methods. Full-time students complete the diploma in three trimesters (one year); part-time students take up to six trimesters. Courses are offered mainly during the day, with some evening sessions. The program is capped at fifteen students per cohort and admits for the fall trimester only. It is classified in tuition class A and prepares graduates for event-design roles across cultural, commercial, and public-space projects.
