Overview
This undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.Sc.A.) in computer science and software engineering, offered full-time or part-time at the Montreal campus with admission in the fall and winter terms. The curriculum covers programming, software engineering, computer systems, databases, telecommunications, mathematics, and elements of economics and business administration, building competency in analyzing, designing, and developing information systems. Core coursework totals 48 credits in computer science topics such as programming, software engineering, databases, operating systems, web development, and networks, alongside 9 credits of mathematics, 6 credits of business-related courses, 3 credits on computing ethics, a capstone project, and electives. Requirements
Admission Requirements: All admission bases require prior completion of college-level Integral Calculus, Differential Calculus and Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry; candidates missing these are admitted conditionally on passing remedial courses MAT0600 and/or MAT0341 within their first year. Direct entry is via a DEC (pre-university or technical) with a minimum cote de rendement (cote R) of 22; a file below that may still be reviewed. Applicants may alternatively qualify with at least two years of relevant IT work experience (minimum age 21: programming, analysis, software development, database administration, network management, etc.), with at least five completed university courses (15 credits) and a cumulative average of 2.2/4.3, or with a diploma from outside Quebec after at least 13 years of schooling and a minimum average of 11/20. All candidates must prove French proficiency through the DEC's uniform French exam, the Quebec ministry's written test, or UQAM's own written French test; francophone-university graduates are exempt. Admission is offered in the fall and winter trimesters.
