Overview
This 30-credit certificate develops students' communication skills in both French and English while immersing them in Montreal's two main language communities. Through a personalized combination of language courses and cultural and intercultural content, students build toward autonomous C1/C2-level proficiency and deepen their knowledge of Montreal's history, cultural life, and politics. The program pairs formal language instruction with practical, community-based engagement so students develop fluency alongside intercultural competence. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry is via a DEC or its equivalent. Applicants with relevant experience may qualify at age 21 or older with appropriate knowledge and experience. Those with prior university study need at least three completed university-level courses (9 credits). Candidates with a diploma from outside Quebec need at least 13 years of schooling or the equivalent. All candidates must take the Ecole de langues' French and English placement tests; a minimum level of B2 in the candidate's primary language and B1 in the secondary language is required, and candidates below these levels may be admitted conditionally with up to five preparatory courses in their first three trimesters. Admission is offered in the fall, winter, and summer trimesters.
