The Certificate in Mental Health (Certificat en sante mentale) is a 30-credit, first-cycle interdisciplinary program focused on supporting individuals and families affected by mental health difficulties. Coursework covers the prevention, intervention modes, and treatment of mental disorders, along with partnership-based approaches to working with clients, families, and communities. Students learn to distinguish the manifestations of mental health conditions, analyze evidence-based therapeutic approaches, collaborate across professional teams, and apply reflective practice in their work. The program is delivered entirely online, combining asynchronous coursework with synchronous evening and weekend sessions. Full-time students complete the certificate in one year across three consecutive trimesters; part-time study extends over two to three years. The program targets practising nurses, specialized education technicians, social work technicians, social workers, peer support workers, and community organization staff seeking to develop mental health intervention competencies. The certificate is offered at Universite du Quebec a Rimouski and admits students each fall, winter, and summer trimester.
