The bachelor's program with a Major in Biology at Universite du Quebec a Rimouski provides multidisciplinary training with a specialization in biology, combining a 60-credit biology major with a second discipline taken as a 30-credit minor or certificate chosen by the student, for a 90-credit total. The biology component covers core scientific knowledge across the discipline, and about 78 percent of first-cycle biology courses include a laboratory or field component, giving students hands-on experience with data collection and analysis. Students can also take part in optional summer schools in paleontology and ecosystem phenology, and in a student-organized scientific outreach colloquium held on campus. Graduates work in provincial and federal government ministries, environmental consulting firms, research departments, teaching, and biotechnology, and the program can also serve as a foundation for graduate studies in biology or a related life science.
