Program details

Overview

The Certificat en arts plastiques is a 30-credit undergraduate certificate at UQAT introducing students to the visual arts through drawing, colour theory, sculpture, and art history. Studio courses in contemporary drawing and sculpture practice, delivered in two-part sequences, build technical skills alongside courses in creative process that develop each student's individual artistic approach across two- and three-dimensional work, including preparation of an exhibition project. Two theory courses examine the history of Canadian art from the seventeenth century through the 1970s and the relationship between artists and society. The program is intended for people already engaged with or working in the visual arts who want to develop their personal artistic practice and expression, including teachers and other educators in the field of arts education. For the purposes of awarding a bachelor's degree by accumulation of certificates, this program falls under the Arts sector.
