Overview

The Certificat en effets visuels pour le cinema et la television is a 30-credit undergraduate certificate at UQAT developing the conceptual, artistic, technical, and professional skills needed to work in high-end visual effects for film and television. Through laboratory-based coursework, students experiment with digital creation media and work across specialization areas found in the visual effects industry, including digital sculpting, 3D design, 3D animation, compositing and integration, match moving, and matte painting and rendering. The program examines the visual and aesthetic issues involved in landmark film and television visual effects work and gives students experience with the conception, execution, and production workflow of a visual-effects studio, culminating in a special project. The certificate can also be taken as a minor paired with a related bachelor's degree, and admission capacity is limited. For the purposes of awarding a bachelor's degree by accumulation of certificates, this program falls under the Arts sector.
