This 45-credit professional master's program, offered jointly by UQAM, UQO and UQAT, trains professionals in the sustainable management of forest ecosystems using an ecosystem-based approach that considers the services forests provide and the human dimensions of the relationship with the forest. The interdisciplinary curriculum is organized across five full-time trimesters and combines coursework on Quebec forest-management issues, ecosystem-based management planning, human-community and forest relationships, and forest-landscape functioning with an exploratory professional-environment placement, a professional-insertion placement, and two specialization projects. Admission requires an undergraduate degree in a natural sciences, applied sciences, or related economic, social, or human sciences field with a minimum cumulative average of 3.2 on 4.3, sufficient spoken French to participate in discussions, and the ability to read and understand English-language texts, since much of the field's literature is in English. Program capacity is limited to 18 students, with new admissions only at the fall term. Graduates earn a Maitrise es sciences appliquees.
