This certificate examines development challenges facing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including why some regions develop successfully while others do not. The 30-credit, first-cycle curriculum covers global, regional, and local development issues, and analyzes North-South relations, international trade agreements, and the role of emerging economic powers. It gives students a base understanding of the concepts, schools of thought, and intervention practices specific to international development, through fifteen mandatory credits across five courses and fifteen elective credits chosen from more than thirty course options. The program is offered in full-time and part-time formats at the Gatineau campus, with admission open in the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms, leading to a Certificate credential from Université du Québec en Outaouais.
