MA/MS in Biology

This Master's in Biology at Universite du Quebec en Outaouais is a 45-credit, thesis-based research program (deuxieme cycle, classe B, programme recherche), largely built around the completion of a research project, offered at the Gatineau campus with admission in the fall and winter terms, in both full-time and part-time study. The program provides an initiation to scientific research, preparing students who wish to pursue doctoral studies, and covers approaches across the biological sciences applied to diverse environments, with focus areas including fundamental and applied ecology, toxicology, occupational health and safety, biochemistry, and biotechnology. Before beginning any other admission steps, candidates must establish a preliminary agreement with a professor qualified to supervise a thesis (memoire). Admission requires a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in biology, completed with a cumulative average of 3.2 on 4.3 (candidates between 2.8 and 3.2 may be considered). Candidates must meet UQO's French-language policy, with a Test de francais international (TFI) score of at least 750/990 required of applicants who do not otherwise qualify.
