Overview
This Bachelor of Applied Science (B.Sc.A.) in Agricultural Economics is described by Université Laval as the only French-language programme of its kind in Canada. Over 120 credits and four years of full-time study, it combines agronomy, business administration, economics, and policy applied to the agri-food sector, preparing graduates to work across the food chain from production through consumption in roles spanning economic analysis, agricultural management, marketing, and agribusiness policy. Graduates can pursue professional designation through Quebec's agronomist and economist professional orders. The curriculum includes some distance and hybrid course options. It is offered by Université Laval's Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences with admission sessions in fall and winter. The curriculum allocates roughly 90 credits to core agroeconomics coursework and 30 credits to other university requirements.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec DEC holders need a DEC in natural sciences, in sciences-letters-arts, or an equivalent International Baccalaureate science stream, or another DEC plus specified prerequisite courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Applicants from outside Quebec need a secondary school diploma plus one year of university study with a satisfactory science background. International applicants need 13 years of pre-university education or 12 years plus one year of post-secondary study with a satisfactory science background.
