This cooperative Bachelor of Engineering program trains specialists in mining and mineral processing. Students learn to conceive and optimize mining site development, supervise resource extraction, and manage ore treatment to maximize yield while balancing efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility. The program totals 120 credits over 4 years (11 sessions; winter admission extends completion to 9 sessions), with up to 60 credits of prior learning recognized. Its cooperative format includes three mandatory paid four-month work placements, and an integrative capstone project in which student teams conduct feasibility studies with mining industry partners. Admission for Quebec DEC holders requires a DEC in natural sciences, sciences-letters-arts, or International Baccalaureate in pure or applied sciences, or any DEC plus prerequisite courses in chemistry, mathematics, and physics. Applicants from outside Quebec need a secondary diploma plus one university year with a satisfactory science background, or a 13-year pre-university diploma with equivalent preparation. The program is delivered on campus, with intake in the Fall and Winter terms.
