Overview

This doctoral programme, leading to the degree of Docteur en droit (LL.D.), trains independent researchers capable of making original contributions across all fields of law. The programme comprises 90 credits, with an estimated full-time duration of four years, structured around coursework, a comprehensive examination, and a doctoral thesis, and may include an international teaching internship in a developing country. Instruction is delivered in French. New students are admitted in the fall, winter, and summer terms.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in law from a Canadian university or an equivalent qualification. A research supervisor must agree to direct the thesis before an application is submitted. Non-francophone applicants must achieve a minimum TCF score of 600/699 on the mandatory sections and 10/20 on the written expression section, or demonstrate equivalent French proficiency.
