This Master of Laws, thesis option, is a 45-credit research program at Universite Laval with an estimated full-time duration of two years; up to 9 credits of prior learning may be recognized. It is designed to give students a legal specialty and to develop their legal research skills through an individual thesis. Courses may be offered at a distance, in hybrid, or in comodal format. Admission requires a bachelor's degree in law from a Canadian university, or a bachelor's degree in another discipline combined with a law certificate, along with a GPA of 3.00 on a 4.33 scale. Applicants must confirm a research director before the end of their first year and must submit a CV, a motivation letter of about two pages, a one-page research proposal, and two recommendation letters. Success in the program is tied to the ability to read and understand texts in English. Admission is offered for the fall, winter, and summer terms.
