This research-focused doctorate leads to the Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.) credential through a 90-credit program with two possible concentrations: musicology (research) and musicology (research-creation). Students develop an original thesis using methodologies such as historical study, research-creation or analysis. Up to seven credits of prior training may be recognized toward the program. Full-time or part-time study is possible. Admission requires written confirmation from a research director accepting to supervise the candidate before the application is submitted. The program has an estimated full-time duration of four years and admits students in the fall and winter sessions. Individual courses may be delivered at a distance, in hybrid format, or comodally.
