This certificate develops the technical and critical listening skills needed for digital audio production, covering sound recording, mixing, synthesis and mastering. The 30-credit program comprises 10 mandatory courses, including acoustics and digital audio theory, sound recording, scoring to picture, digital mixing, and audio design and post-production, along with two project-based courses in which students complete audio productions from concept to finished product. Full-time completion is estimated at one year, and the program can also be taken part-time. Some courses are offered at a distance or in hybrid format. Students must supply their own MacBook Pro computer, audio interface, microphone, headphones and MIDI controller. Admission is offered in the fall and winter terms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec applicants need any DEC. Applicants from outside Quebec/Canada need a secondary school diploma plus one year of university study; international applicants need a pre-university diploma totalling 13 years of study or equivalent. Non-francophone applicants must score at least 361/699 on the TCF tout public. Applicants must also supply their own MacBook Pro computer, audio interface, microphone, headphones and MIDI controller.
