This PhD programme specializes in public communication research across three areas: professional practices, social intervention, and public representations and discourse. The credential awarded is a Philosophiæ doctor (Ph.D.). The programme comprises 90 credits, with up to 7 credits available through recognition of prior learning, and an estimated full-time duration of four years, structured around coursework, a comprehensive examination, and a doctoral thesis. Instruction is delivered in French. New students are admitted in the fall term only.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in communication or an equivalent qualification, or a master's in another discipline where the thesis addressed public communication and included at least 30 credits of coursework in communication. Applications require a curriculum vitae, a two-page letter of motivation, a five-page research proposal, and three reference reports. Non-francophone applicants must demonstrate French proficiency through the TCF test, with a minimum of 600/699 on the mandatory sections and 14/20 on written expression, or by passing course FLS-2093.
