Overview
This research-based master's offers theoretical and practical training across fields of literary studies, allowing students to specialize in French, Quebecois, Indigenous, or Francophone literature and to develop skills in analysis, literary history, literary creation, or digital approaches to literature. The 45-credit program (with up to 7 credits of prior learning recognition) includes mandatory thesis-project and research or creative-research seminars, plus electives spanning corpus studies, literary theory, creative research, and cultural fields, with research activities structured across four sequential courses totalling 30 credits and culminating in a thesis. Courses are offered flexibly during the day and evening on weekdays, on a full-time or part-time basis, normally completed over two years, with admission for the Fall and Winter sessions.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in literary studies or an equivalent diploma, or a bachelor's degree in another field, with a program or graduation average of at least 3.20 on a 4.33 scale. French language proficiency is required; non-francophone applicants must pass the TCF tout public test (minimum 600/699 on the required sections and 14/20 on written expression) or complete equivalent coursework. Intermediate-level English proficiency is required for graduation.
