Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary program examining the scientific, cultural, economic, moral, political, and social dimensions of environmental issues. Students choose one of three areas of concentration: Culture, Society, and Peoples of Canada; Politics, Society, and the Global Environment; or Food and Society. The degree draws on courses offered by the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Native Studies, giving students a broad framework for understanding and addressing environmental problems. It prepares graduates for further study or specialization in fields such as law, business, economics, resource management, and journalism, and is offered through the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta's main Edmonton campus.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Alberta High School Diploma (or equivalent) including English Language Arts 30-1, a Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2, Biology 30, and additional courses from approved humanities, language, and science subject groups. Applicants from other provinces, countries, or educational backgrounds are assessed against equivalent requirements set out in the University of Alberta Calendar, and non-native English speakers must meet the university's English Language Proficiency requirement.
