Overview
The Bachelor of Science with Honors in Environmental Earth Sciences examines how human behavior and activities affect the environment, both globally and locally, including the impact of global warming and other environmental concerns. As a Bachelor of Science with Honors, the program embeds a research thesis project and requires students to maintain a higher academic standard than the equivalent BSc Major, which is also offered in this subject area. Students may add a minor from the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, though doing so reduces the number of option courses available; a double major is not offered alongside the Honors program. Graduates commonly pursue roles such as environmental health officer, energy policy analyst, hydrologist, meteorologist, oceanographer, soil scientist, paleontologist, or research scientist.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Alberta high school requires a minimum application average of 80%, calculated from five Grade 12 courses including English Language Arts 30-1; meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission, since places are allocated by competitive average. The program's Grade 12 prerequisite course(s): Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and Physics 20 (Physics 30 recommended). Transfer applicants are assessed on their GPA from their most recent 24 university credits (high school marks are also factored in if fewer than 24 credits have been completed). All applicants must meet the university's English Language Proficiency requirement.
