Program details

Overview

Electrical Engineering is a four-year Bachelor of Engineering program at the University of Guelph that builds from physics and circuit theory to the design of hardware systems that generate, sense, process, and move power and information. Students work with industry-standard simulation and design tools to build circuits, embedded electronics, power systems, and control systems, testing their designs in laboratory settings. The program offers three areas of focus: Microelectronics and Smart Devices; Connected Systems and Automation; and Electromagnetics and Sustainable Energy. A co-operative education option extends the program to five years with work terms in industry. Graduates pursue careers in semiconductors, renewable energy, automotive and aerospace systems, telecommunications, and automation, or continue to graduate research in electrical engineering and related fields.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) follows the University of Guelph's general Ontario Secondary School admission process: an applicant's admission average is calculated from their top six completed 4U/M (or equivalent) courses, including any courses required for the program. Cut-off averages vary by year based on application volume and space available, and Guelph publishes program-specific course and average guidance through its admission requirements search tool.
