The Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Lethbridge combines thesis research with coursework, giving students a foundation in conducting nursing research and translating findings into clinical practice. Students who hold a current Registered Nurse, Registered Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse credential in Canada apply to the University's Master of Nursing (MN) program instead. Required courses for unconditionally admitted students include Health Sciences 5100 (Research Methodologies), one course in advanced statistics or qualitative analysis, and two further electives, totalling 12.0 to 18.0 credit hours, alongside an original thesis and oral defence. The program runs full-time over 24 months or part-time over 48 months, with admission in the Fall term only. Instruction is delivered in person on the Lethbridge campus, and an optional co-operative education component is available. Applicants must secure a potential thesis supervisor before submitting an application. The degree prepares graduates for nursing research careers, doctoral study, or advanced academic and clinical research roles.
