Overview
This Bachelor of Science program in Food Science examines how raw agricultural commodities are processed into food products, with students choosing between a science-focused stream centered on food quality and safety and a business-focused stream centered on product development and marketing. Delivered over four years and one hundred twenty credit hours at the Fort Garry campus within the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, the program offers an optional cooperative education component that lets students earn credit for paid work terms alongside coursework. Eight minors are available for students to pair with the degree, including agronomy, plant biotechnology, and human nutrition and metabolism. Graduates become eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology and the Institute of Food Technologists, and can pursue Professional Agrologist designation through Agrologists Manitoba.
