Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering is a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering programme taught at University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, Canada. The programme is delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 24,906 per year (CAD 12,073 per year for local students).
This program covers the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software systems, with an emphasis on producing reliable, safe, and efficient software that meets customer requirements, including safety-critical applications. The credential is a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, delivered jointly by the Faculty of Computer Science and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering on the Fredericton campus. The program includes laboratory experience, group design projects, and a co-operative education (co-op) program. According to the program page, this is the sole Atlantic Canada software engineering program carrying accreditation from the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, one of fourteen accredited programs across the country, and it additionally holds accreditation through the Canadian Information Processing Society. Small class sizes are referenced as supporting closer interaction between students, instructors, and peers. The program suits students who want an engineering-accredited software credential combined with team-based design experience. Graduates are described as developing the skills to design, analyze, and implement efficient software solutions while building teamwork and leadership abilities through group project work.

Admission Requirements: This programme page defers to UNB's admission requirements tool rather than listing courses itself; for direct entry from a New Brunswick high school it requires the Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Software Engineering English 122 at a minimum of 70%, Pre-Calculus A 120 at a minimum of 70%, Pre-Calculus B 120 at a minimum of 70%, Chemistry 122 at a minimum of 70%, Physics 122 at a minimum of 70%, and one further elective from Group 1, 2 or 4 at a minimum of 60%, for a minimum admission average of 75%. International applicants follow the same course and average requirements; those with prior post-secondary study outside Canada or the United States must submit a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation, and this Faculty requires an overall B average in the required subjects for internationally-schooled applicants. All international applicants must also meet UNB's standard English-language requirement unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 85 (pre-2026) or 4.5 overall with at least 4.5 in Speaking and Writing (Jan 2026+), CAEL 60, Pearson PTE 59, Cambridge English 176, or Duolingo 115. Meeting the minimum average does not guarantee admission.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic and international applicants apply through UNB's own application portal by the same published dates: for Fall 2027 entry the general deadline is 31 March 2027, and for Winter 2027 entry it is 15 November 2026, with undergraduate scholarship applications due 1 March 2027. UNB continues to accept applications after these dates while seats remain in the program, so admission is effectively rolling once the deadline passes. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
