This undergraduate program leads to an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Ottawa, offered in English and in French. The 42-unit discipline concentration addresses issues such as climate change and human adaptation, water resources and their management, community organization and evolution, social interaction in urban space, and northern development in permafrost environments. Emerging technologies, including computer cartography, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS), are integrated throughout the curriculum, alongside field experiences in locations such as Canada's north, the Great Lakes basin, and the Appalachians. Co-operative education is available when the program is taken as part of an honours degree, and a French immersion stream is available within the honours degree for students wishing to study part of the program in French. The program equips graduates with technical and analytical skills applicable to environmental management, urban planning, and geospatial analysis careers.
