Program details

Overview

The Master of Information Studies (MIS) is offered by the School of Information Studies in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa. Students complete six compulsory core courses in their first year, followed by a capstone experience course in their final semester. The program offers three completion pathways: a course-based option, a thesis option, and a co-op option, letting students combine information studies coursework with applied or research-based work. Because the program is bilingual, a minimum of 25% of courses must be completed in the student's second official language (English or French). Full-time students are expected to complete all degree requirements within two years, with a maximum of five years permitted from initial enrolment for full-time or part-time study. The program leads to a Master of Information Studies credential.
