The Master of Laws (LLM) with Concentration in Legislative Studies is offered by the Faculty of Law, reflecting Canada's bilingual and trijuridical legal system of civil law, common law and Indigenous law. Students pursue the degree through a thesis option or a research paper option, drawing on coursework in legislative research and drafting methodology alongside seminars in comparative law, statutory interpretation and public policy. Compulsory work includes Normative Theory and Policy Implementation and a Major Research Paper, supplemented by optional graduate law courses. Courses are taught in English or French, and occasionally in both, and examinations, assignments and the research paper may be completed in either official language. The program is offered full-time or part-time, with full-time students expected to complete requirements within two years and part-time students within four years. Graduates receive a Master of Laws degree with the Legislative Studies concentration noted on the credential.
