The Master of Laws (LLM) with Concentration in Notarial Law is offered by the Faculty of Law in French only, preparing law graduates for practice as notaries within Quebec's civil law tradition. The regular path combines a legal research methodology course and notarial law seminars covering property rights publication, family relations, financial commitments, real estate title examination, corporate law and commercial leases, and estate transmission, with either a six-unit coursework option or a Major Research Paper, followed by an in-depth notarial law seminar and a 12-unit professional placement with a practicing notary. A lighter path spreads the same core content over three years for students who prefer a reduced course load per term. Full-time students on the regular path are expected to complete the degree within two years, with a four-year limit for part-time study; the lighter path is expected to take seven full-time terms (28 months). The program leads to a Master of Laws degree with the Notarial Law concentration.
