Overview
The University of Regina's Department of Computer Science offers Master of Science programs by thesis, project, or coursework, with specializations in Data Science or Human-Centred Computing, and a Doctor of Philosophy program, across six research areas: artificial intelligence, data science, human-centred computing, software engineering, systems and cybersecurity, and theoretical computer science. The thesis-based MSc requires 15 credits of coursework and 15 credits of thesis research; the project-based MSc requires 21 credits of coursework and 9 credits of project research; the course-based MSc options each require 30 credits of coursework plus a capstone project. The PhD requires a thesis-based MSc in Computer Science, at least 9 credit hours of coursework, and 51 credit hours of research, and takes a minimum of three years to complete. The department has been continuously accredited by the Computer Science Accreditation Council since 1982. Admission to the Master's program requires a four-year bachelor's degree in computer science with an overall average of at least 70 percent, and a computer science average of at least 75 percent.
