Biological Engineering graduate study at the University of Saskatchewan is offered as either a project-based Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) or a thesis-based Master of Science (M.Sc.), both research-intensive programs addressing agricultural and biological systems. Research areas include agricultural machinery design, tillage mechanics, sensors and instrumentation for agricultural and biological systems, agricultural building environments, soil and water management, waste management, cold-regions hydrology, postharvest and food engineering, and value-added bioprocessing. The program facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration with other university departments and research institutes, giving students access to specialized labs and field-based experimental research facilities; a faculty supervisor is required before an application can be processed. Classes and research supervision are delivered on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Admission normally follows a four-year honours undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in a relevant academic discipline. Graduates are prepared for research and technical careers spanning agricultural, food, energy, and environmental engineering.
