Program details

Overview

Taught by working HR professionals, this UFV part-time certificate suits both newcomers launching an HR career and practitioners taking the next step on a professional path. Nine core courses cover strategic HR management, hiring, employee engagement, performance management, development and training, HR policies, current HR issues, leadership and employee rewards, while electives address labour relations, BC employment law, workplace health and safety, employee orientation and HR metrics. Students take nine core courses plus three electives in any order and finish within three years, usually spending one to three years part-time. Classes run on weekday evenings or weekends in online or hybrid format and the certificate can be completed entirely online. There are no entrance requirements, and the program does not itself lead to the CPHR designation.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Human Resources Management Certificate is offered through UFV Continuing Education and its program page states there are no entrance requirements or prerequisites for this program, adding that the courses can be taken in any order. The page also confirms there is no formal application process: students register for classes directly, at any time before they start, as long as space remains. No minimum secondary-school grade, prior coursework, GPA or average is specified, and the page does not name an English-language proficiency test or score of any kind (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, Duolingo or otherwise). No portfolio, interview, work-experience, minimum age, criminal-record check, or immunisation condition is mentioned. A bundled option groups the certificate's courses across two consecutive semesters, but this is a scheduling convenience rather than an admission requirement, since individual courses remain open for enrolment year-round.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to UFV: applications for Fall (September) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026, for Winter (January) 2027 entry opened 1 May 2026, and for Summer (May) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026; UFV publishes no closing date for any of these and instead admits many programmes strictly in application-date order once every required document has arrived, so applying soon after opening matters more than any deadline. Grade 12 students may apply from 1 October of their graduating year and must send final transcripts by 3 August. International applicants use UFV International's own windows - 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter and 1 October to 1 March for Summer - and are likewise assessed on a rolling, first-arrived basis until each programme fills. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
