Offered by University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, Hons in Computer Science is a honours degree in Computer Sciences programme. The programme runs for 4 years. Tuition for international students is CAD 66,356 per year.
This program is offered within the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto's St. George campus and centres on computation and on what can and cannot be achieved computationally. Coursework is organized around two recurring themes: scale, meaning the design of large systems and the handling of computationally intensive tasks, and scope, meaning how far computational ideas extend into other fields. Areas of study include artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, programming languages, and the theory of computation. The credential is an Honours undergraduate program available as a Specialist requiring 12.0 credits with at least 1.5 credits at the 400 level, a Major requiring 8.0 credits with at least 0.5 credits at the 400 level, or a Minor requiring 4.0 credits with at least 1.0 credit at the 300 level or above. Students in the Major or Specialist stream can pursue focus areas such as artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, computer vision, game design, scientific computing, computational linguistics, computer systems, and technology leadership. An optional Arts & Science Internship Program stream adds 12 to 20 months of paid work experience, extending completion to roughly five years. The program suits students with varying levels of prior programming background, from those who can bypass introductory material to those beginning with foundational courses.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Faculty of Arts & Science follows the University's general OUAC process (Ontario applicants via 101/105, six 4U/M courses including ENG4U, or the equivalent senior secondary credential internationally). Entry into the Computer Science program of study is decided after first year, on program grades: the Specialist and Major (for CMP1-category students) require CSC110Y1 at 70% and CSC111H1 at 77%, plus the calculus sequence (MAT137Y1/MAT157Y1, or the two-course MAT148H1+MAT149H1/MAT158H1+MAT159H1 combination); students outside CMP1 must submit a supplementary application and complete CSC148H1 and CSC165H1/CSC240H1, with grades below 70% not considered. The Minor requires CSC110Y1 and CSC111H1 both at 70% for CMP1 students, or the same supplementary route otherwise. All routes require 4.0 credits completed before enrolment. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University's proficiency requirement (IELTS Academic 6.5, no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 89 overall with 22 in Speaking and Writing for tests before 21 January 2026).
