The Electrical Engineering program gives students a foundation in electrical systems through labs, design projects, and team-based work. Ten specialization options are offered, including communications, computational intelligence, computer systems, digital and embedded systems, digital signal processing, electrical energy systems, electromagnetics and photonics, electronics, mechatronics, and networks, security and privacy. Students have access to engineering labs and facilities and can join engineering clubs and design teams. The program includes UVic's co-operative education option, in which students complete paid, career-related work terms that count toward the degree; on average 70 percent of UVic co-op students graduate with a job offer already in hand. Graduates pursue roles such as circuit designer, power engineer, systems engineer, electronics engineer, wireless communications specialist, and cybersecurity specialist. The program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree completed over four years of full-time study, offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Victoria.
