Offered by University of Victoria in Victoria, Canada, Social Work Advanced: Master's Degree (MSWA) is a master's degree in Social Work programme. The programme is delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 2,857 per semester (CAD 2,265 per semester for local students).
Designed for practitioners who already hold a Bachelor of Social Work and at least 3,000 hours of human-services experience, this advanced MSW begins with an on-campus introduction before shifting to distance education for the remainder of a three-to-five-year program. Students complete either a thesis or a 450-hour advanced practicum, and coursework is built around decolonizing, Indigenous-focused, anti-racist, feminist, and anti-oppressive approaches to critical social work practice. Applicants submit an updated CV, a statement of intent, an experience summary form, and the names of two academic or professional references, alongside post-secondary transcripts, with September-entry applications due November 30. The 450-hour advanced practicum option runs alongside coursework for students who choose it instead of a thesis, and the program continues to centre socially-just, decolonizing approaches to practice throughout both completion routes.
