The University of Windsor's Psychology PhD is offered through two specializations: Clinical Psychology and Applied Social Psychology. The Clinical Psychology stream prepares students for registration or licensure as independent clinical psychologists, the minimum educational requirement for that credential in most North American jurisdictions; students typically spend six to seven years completing coursework, conducting research for a master's thesis and doctoral dissertation, and accruing supervised clinical experience across a range of practicum settings. The Applied Social Psychology stream trains students as scholars, researchers, and practitioners in areas of social psychology with an emphasis on community and health psychology and industrial/organizational psychology, combining coursework, research, and practicum or internship experience. Both streams require a completed master's-level foundation and culminate in a PhD dissertation. Admission requires three confidential reference reports, a statement of interest, and a curriculum vitae. Both streams admit for Fall entry only. Graduates pursue careers in clinical practice, applied research, and academia.
