Overview
The Bachelor of Interior Design combines theory with specialized knowledge and the development of proficiencies relative to the profession of interior design. The program provides a balanced range of theoretical, intellectual, communication, experiential, applied and other skills, needed to deal effectively with the responsibilities of interior design professional life. The interior design curriculum features lecture, studio, critique, and computer lab instruction; independent and collaborative projects; formal and informal presentations; field trips; an internship and a final major project spanning two semesters.

Admission Requirements: VIU's general admission requirements apply, plus a minimum "C" in English 12 for students enrolling in ENGL 115, and a minimum "C" in any one of these Grade 11 mathematics courses: Principles of Mathematics 11, Applications of Mathematics 11, Foundations of Mathematics 11.
Applicants must also submit a portfolio meeting VIU's published Program Application Requirements for the Bachelor of Interior Design.
Enrolment is limited, so meeting the minimums does not guarantee a seat. Entry with advanced standing at the second- or third-year level may be possible under VIU's Advanced Standing Application Requirements. Because of the way the field works, VIU advises that you should already be comfortable with fundamentals such as word processing before starting, so that you can complete the coursework.
