Sexuality Studies is a major jointly offered by Western University's Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Social Science, through the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. Entry to the module requires completion of first-year study including 1.0 Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies course at the 1000 level (GSWS 1020E, or 1.0 course from Black Studies 1030F/G, GSWS 1021F/G, GSWS 1022F/G or GSWS 1024F/G) with a minimum mark of 60%, or departmental permission; students who begin the module after first year may instead take GSWS 2301F/G concurrently with second-year courses. The module comprises 6.0 courses: 0.5 course at the 2300 level, 1.0 course from designated 3000-level options, 1.0 further course from specified GSWS or Black Studies offerings, 1.0 course at the 2100 level or above, 2.0 courses at the 2200 level or above, and 0.5 course at the 4000 level. This structure builds from an introductory grounding in gender and sexuality studies toward increasingly advanced, interdisciplinary coursework across the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies and Black Studies curricula.
