The Master of Arts in Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies at Western University examines gender dynamics in contemporary culture through a critical, interdisciplinary lens. The curriculum spans feminist theory, health issues, philosophy, queer issues and sexuality studies, legal issues, violence against women, women and equity in the workplace, and women and the creative arts, organized around research fields in feminist theory, globalization and equity, health and embodiment, representation and cultural production, and sexuality. The programme is completed full-time over three terms, roughly one year, through either a course-based or a project-based route. Admission normally requires an Honours BA in Women's, Gender or Feminist Studies with a minimum B+ (78 percent) average over the final two years of study; applicants from other disciplines may be considered with adequate preparation in feminist theory and methodology, equivalent to at least three full courses above first-year level. The application deadline is January 15, though late applications are considered if spaces remain.
