The PhD in Nursing prepares nurse scientists to conduct research and to take on leadership roles in developing, evaluating, and disseminating knowledge relevant to nursing and health care. The program emphasizes openness to multiple ways of knowing and values varied philosophical, epistemological, and theoretical perspectives in nursing scholarship. Applicants must hold a master's degree in nursing or a related health care field, a CASN-accredited bachelor's degree in nursing, and current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, along with prior completion of a master's thesis or research project. Admission also requires agreement of a faculty supervisor whose research interests align with the applicant's own. The program is full-time, thesis-based, and structured over 12 terms (four years), with intake beginning in September. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the program's TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test requirements.
