Overview
Western's Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) is the longest-standing graduate nursing program in Canada and provides a foundation for leadership in professional nursing and for doctoral study. The degree is thesis-based and can be completed in six terms of full-time study or nine terms part-time, with a single annual intake beginning in September. Students who perform strongly in their first year may be eligible to fast-track directly into the PhD program rather than completing the MScN independently, and a co-op study option is also available. Applicants require a bachelor's degree in nursing from a program accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) or approved by an appropriate provincial nursing organization, an undergraduate average of at least 78% (B+), and undergraduate preparation in research and statistics. Domestic applicants must hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing and without practice restrictions, along with current RNAO membership; these registration requirements do not apply to international applicants.
