Overview
The Master of Science in Physics is offered by Western University's Department of Physics & Astronomy, whose roughly 30 faculty members conduct research in astronomy, condensed matter physics, medical physics, atmospheric physics, and planetary science. The program runs full-time over six terms and can be completed as project-based or thesis-based study, allowing students to focus their research within one of the department's active areas. Admission requires a four-year BSc degree (or equivalent) in physics, astronomy, or a related field, with at least a 70 per cent (B) average in upper-level physical science and mathematics courses. International applicants are encouraged, though not required, to submit GRE-Physics scores. Students typically begin their studies in September. Funding opportunities include the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship - Master's and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship.
