Overview
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Western University focuses on local government administration and public management, and is described by the university as Canada's only public administration program with a local-government focus. The program is project-based and can be completed full-time over three terms or part-time over seven to ten terms, combining coursework in local administration and policy analysis with applied project work. Admission follows one of two routes: applicants without local government experience need a four-year honours degree in the social sciences with senior coursework related to local government, public administration, or urban studies; applicants with at least five years of Canadian local government employment may be admitted with an undergraduate or professional degree, with special admission considered case by case. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Western's English proficiency requirement. The program serves both early-career graduates and mid-career local government professionals.
