The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology examines how society shapes individuals and how individuals shape society, focusing on contemporary social issues including health, government, crime, and community change. Coursework covers social theory and research methods alongside applied topics such as inequality, deviance, and institutional change, building skills in data collection, analysis, and social interpretation. Students may specialize in Applied Social Research and can pursue a direct-entry co-op stream offering twelve months of paid career experience before graduation. The program is delivered primarily in person through face-to-face instruction on campus. The Honours program normally takes four years of full-time study to complete and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree, preparing graduates for careers and further study in social research, public policy, community services, and related fields.
