This program covers literature, language, and storytelling across genres, from historic novels and poetry to contemporary works and graphic novels, examined within their cultural and historical contexts. Students develop analytical, writing, and communication skills applicable to writing, editing, publishing, communications, law, and education. It leads to an Honours Bachelor of Arts over four years of full-time study, delivered on campus, with intakes in September and January; a co-op option is also available. Admission for Ontario secondary school applicants is based on an average in the mid-70s (low 80s for the co-op option), including Grade 12 English at a minimum of 60%. International applicants are assessed on an equivalent average with senior secondary English at a minimum of 60%, and must have completed their three most recent years of full-time education in English without ESL coursework, or otherwise demonstrate English proficiency.
