Overview
This program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical Engineering, offered by the Lassonde School of Engineering at the Keele Campus on a full-time or part-time basis. Students begin with the core concepts underlying electrical engineering before moving into more advanced study of power electronics, signal processing and assistive medical devices in upper years, supported by lab spaces focused on medical devices, microelectronics, power systems, embedded systems and robotics. A co-op or internship placement is available as part of the program's experiential education options, and entry is offered in both fall and winter for first year and upper years, with no summer intake. The curriculum is aimed at preparing graduates for roles across telecommunications, renewable power generation and medical device industries, among others. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Common BEng prerequisites are senior-level English, chemistry, physics and mathematics; Ontario applicants need ENG4U, SCH4U, SPH4U, MHF4U and MCV4U, with a minimum final grade of 70% in each. Admission is competitive: the academic average should be in the mid-80s for an offer, with a final academic average of 78% required to maintain it in most Canadian provinces. Equivalent thresholds apply internationally: a minimum IB diploma score of 30, a GCE A-Level average of B, 4.5/5.0 on the Hong Kong HKDSE, a 3.7/4.0 GPA on US high-school Grade 11-12 courses (AP scores of 4 or 5 eligible for transfer credit), and 14 overall on the Baccalauréat Français. Unless exempt, applicants must meet Lassonde's undergraduate English proficiency minimums: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 20), PTE Academic 60 across all sections, Duolingo 120 (no section below 105), or CAEL 60.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through OUAC; for Fall 2027 entry, Ontario high-school applicants should apply by January 15, 2027, while out-of-province, transfer, and mature domestic applicants have a March 24, 2027 guaranteed-consideration date. Winter 2027 entry closes November 18, 2026 for all applicant types and Summer 2027 entry closes April 1, 2027. York continues to accept and assess applications after these dates until each program fills. International applicants share the same March 24, 2027 Fall guaranteed-consideration date as out-of-province and transfer applicants; York publishes no separate, earlier international deadline. Exceptions include Direct Entry Nursing (February 1, 2027) and Schulich's BBA, which closes firmly on January 15, 2027 with a February 1, 2027 supplementary application. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
